Maryborough is located on the Fraser Coast in Queensland, about 4 hours drive north from Brisbane and 2 hours 20 mins north of Noosa Heads.
The sand island - Fraser Island - lies just off the coast and is home to Platypus Bay, Cathedral Beach, Kingfisher Bay, Happy Valley and Eurong, and the Great Sandy National Park.
South of Maryborough lies Tin Can Bay on the coast. Inland are the towns of Gympie, Kilkivan, Goomeri, Murgon, Cherbourg, Wondai, Kingaroy and Nanango. The Bunya Mountains, Jack Smith Scrub National Park and Cooloola National Park are also in the area south of Maryborough.
North of Maryborough are the seaside locations of Urangan Boat Harbour and Hervey Bay, while inland the towns of Torbanlea and Howard are situated.
