With its warm climate and laid back lifestyle, Queensland has long been a migration destination for many Australians. The geographical size of Queensland makes an overall assessment of the state’s real estate market quite difficult. But the low interest rates of late have seen the real estate market doing rather well, with particular growth in mining regions and tourist centres.
With such a large state and diverse range of employment sector, Queensland has something for all skills & specialties. A good education is the best start you can give your children for their adult life. With 1,280 state schools throughout Queensland, 282 Catholic schools and another 172 independent schools, there is an educational institution for your kids to attend somewhere near you.
If you’re looking at taking up tertiary or vocational education of some kind then you have plenty of options throughout the state of Queensland. There are 10 different universities throughout the state - some with multiple campuses - providing hundreds of globally recognised degrees and qualifications to help you further your career.

Queensland has had a colourful past over the centuries. It’s seen indigenous Australians, natives from Papua New Guinea, Dutch, English and possibly even Spanish Explorers land on its shores, all before it was even colonised by the British. The state’s been part of New South Wales, an independent colony, a penal settlement, war time training grounds, and of course, a favourite with tourists.
Queensland is the Sunshine State of Australia, known for its tropical weather. It occupies 1.7 million square kilometres of land (3 times the size of Texas) in the northeast corner of Australia. As of March 2013 the Queensland population was at approximately 5.5 million. In September of 2012 unemployment was sitting at 6.1%.
The Government of Queensland is commonly known as the Queensland Government. The form of the Government of Queensland is prescribed in its Constitution, which dates from 1859, although it has been amended many times since then. Since 1901 Queensland has been a state of the Commonwealth of Australia, and the Australian Constitution regulates its relationship with the Commonwealth.
Most people like to escape while they’re on holiday, to simply switch off and enjoy themselves. If you’re still curious as to what’s going on around you it can’t hurt to follow the local news sites. If you pay attention to the local news where you’re staying you’ll actually find more things to see and do, such as events not necessarily targeted at tourists. Smaller towns and regions will often have fetes, fairs, parades and the like which are perfect for family days out.
