Gold Coast Hinterland

South East Queensland's best-kept secret is the picturesque mountainous rainforest region to the west of the Gold Coast. Often referred to as the green behind the gold, the Gold Coast Hinterland and the Scenic Rim, the region around Tamborine Mountain and glorious Lamington National Park, are all part of the Border Ranges.

Spend a day in the Lamington National Park area and enjoy a range of family activities including the Tree Top Walk, Rainforest Retreat, Mountain Villas and Canungra Valley Vineyards, all brought to you by the O'Reilly's family.

The beautiful Mt Tamborine area plays host to many fun family activities such as a rope course, and Gallery Walk with gourmet eateries and the extensive Thunderbird Park.

Bushwalking & Hinterland Treks

bushwalking on the gold coastIf you're a little more active you might want to escape from the car and really get into nature and go bushwalking through the Hinterland bushland and rainforests. There are hundreds of square kilometres of lush rainforest and temperate bushland stretching from Mount Tamborine to the NSW border.

Depending on your fitness and experience there are several different grades of tracks you can stroll along or even take the camping gear and spend a weekend under the stars.

Take a look at some of the bushwalking trails we recommend for their greenery and amazing views along the tracks. If you want to know more give the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services head office a call on (07) 5520 9600.

Enjoy the Scenery

stream with viewMuch of the Australian lifestyle is based around the country areas, with farms and properties accounting for much of the land use in this huge country.

Livestock such as cattle and sheep as well as other farming types including growing a huge variety of crops is widespread in non-built-up areas. Most visitors to Australia will only see the cities and tourist attractions, missing out on the ‘true blue' Aussie farming culture.

The Hinterland has a number of attractions that offer travellers the chance to see and experience authentic Aussie farming and bush life. Watch the working dogs muster cattle, hear some rural bush music and sit down for a damper and billy tea.

For a more hands on approach you can even learn to crack a whip, throw a boomerang and take a horse trail ride through the native bushland.

Gold Coast & Hinterland Wineries
