Queensland Airports - International, Domestic & Regional Airports

Map of Queensland AirportsWhile there are some great drives throughout the state, Queensland is a pretty big place and you may want to skip the travel time and just get to the good stuff (if travelling from overseas, you can also bypass the major airports in Sydney or Melbourne and fly directly to Brisbane or Cairns).

There are a number of airports throughout the state linking you to cities, islands, tourist centres and some of the most distant, regional locations.

Book the right flight and it only takes half a day to make it from Brisbane to the tropical playground in far north Queensland.

You can find below a list of all the airports throughout the state, and whether they offer domestic, regional, or international flights, or view this map of Queensland Airports

Major Australian Airlines

Jetstar – A subsidiary of the Qantas group, Jetstar is their low cost or “value based” domestic airline. They offer an extensive domestic network, as well as international services flying out of Melbourne Airport. Jetstar flies to all major cities in Australia and a number of the regional airports as well.

Qantas – “The Flying Kangaroo” is an Australian tradition and the oldest continuously operated airline in the world. With cheaper flights done through their subsidiary Jetstar line, Qantas prides itself as being the premium airline, where you’ll receive good service, comfortable seats and experienced pilots taking you to 20 domestic locations and 21 locations overseas.

Tiger Airways – Operating as Tigerair Australia, Tiger is another low-cost airline servicing domestic flights around Australia, as well as international flights from its base in Melbourne.

Virgin Australia – The stylish way to travel, Virgin is a great choice for business and holiday travellers alike to travel around Australia and abroad. Virgin covers all Australian metropolitan areas and plenty of regional locations.

Regional Express – Also known as REX, this is one of the major regional air services in Australia. Operating out of New South Wales, the airline has a fleet of Swedish made jets that carry just over 30 passengers. The smaller planes are a great way to see the country from above, and it’s one of the only ways to make it to some outback locations.
