Keppel Bay Islands
The Keppel Bay Islands are only a 30 minute boat trip from Yeppoon, allowing those staying here easy access to 13 islands of secluded beaches, plunging cliffs and island National Parks. Snorkelling, diving, fishing, sailing and hiking are popular activities here and for a booking fee camping is also available.
Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary
The Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary gives you the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Australia’s iconic native wildlife. Cuddle a koala, hold a snake and hand feed kangaroos and wallabies while you get really close to crocodiles. There is a daily interactive animal show as well as picnic grounds, a swimming pool and bushwalking tracks.
Waterline Restaurant
Visit the award winning Waterline Restaurant at the bustling Keppel Bay Marina where you can relax on the deck with some of the best local beef and seafood. The restaurant caters to small and large scale events with beautifully unique landscaped gardens and magnificent views over the waters of the marina.
Sitting on the Tropic of Capricorn, Yeppoon enjoys golden summer days with clear moonlit nights. There is a clear wet and dry season though about 300 days of the year see clear, sunny skies.
Getting There
Transport in and out of Yeppoon is generally through Central Queensland’s transport centre; Rockhampton, which is only a 25 minute drive from Yeppoon. Car travel to the Rockhampton is rather easy as it is the main junction of the Bruce Highway, Central Western Highway and the Capricorn Highway.
Air travel through Rockhampton Airport is regular and offers flights to major cities and regional destinations throughout Queensland. The North Coast Railway runs through the city and trains pass through from Cairns and Brisbane, connecting most of the Queensland coastline.
