A tourist destination in its own right, Cairns is also the gateway to Green Island National Park (near Arlington Reef) and Fitzroy Island National Park via ferry.

Trinity Bay is faced by many of Cairns' northern beaches including Machans Beach, Holloways Beach, Yorkey's Knob, Trinity Beach, Clifton Beach, Palm Cove and Ellis Beach.

Whether you’re using Cairns as a stopping point between different legs of your holiday, or as a holiday destination of its own there is a huge range of accommodation within the city and in the surrounding townships.

Also appearing on this map are the inland locations of Kuranda, Smithfield, Redlynch, Brinsmead, Edmonton and Gordonvale. National parks include Barron Gorge, Davies Creek National Park, Copperlode Falls Dam and Grey Peaks National Park.
