Cape York Map, including Cooktown
The beautiful and remote Cape York area is at the northernmost point of Queensland commonly referred to as Far North Queensland. This is tropical Australian wilderness at its best.
National Parks and attractions abound in the area and include Thursday Island, Horn Island, Jardine River National Park, Iron Range National Park, Mungkan Kandju National Park, Cape Mellville National Park, Lakefield National Park, Starche National Park, Lizard Island and Black Mountain National Park.
Towns on the east coast include Cooktown, Hopevale and Lockhart River. Bamaga is right on the tip of Cape York while Weipa, Arukun and Kurumba are located on the west coast. About an hour inland from Kurumba is Normanton.
